  • The goal of the game is to create legitimate melds, which are sets of three or four cards of the same rank or runs, which are three or more consecutive cards of the same suit. Usually, the game starts with a draw pile made up of the remaining cards after each player is dealt a certain number of cards, usually seven or ten. To begin the discard pile, the top card from the draw pile is positioned face-up.
